Motivational Factors Affecting Employees Satisfaction Assignment

Motivational Factors Affecting Employees Satisfaction - Assignment Example Understandably, many employers take motivation very seriously and its many theories have been evolved to attempt and explain its different forms and functions; modern study of motivation can be traced back to as far as 1960 aimed at harnessing the maximum productive form the workers. This paper will endeavor to discuss the importance of motivation in the workplace as well as exploring the different theories that have been developed on the subject by different thinkers. As aforementioned, motivation is crucial in determining the level of effort and personal investment an individual puts in action, for employers, motivation is unequivocally important since the productivity of their staff is directly depends on their motivation (Burton, et al, 1993). The following are some of the main benefits of motivation in the workplace: Considering that every concern in the workplace requires effort and human and financial resources to accomplish, motivation allows maximum use to be made of it, thi s is done by building up the works willingness to work and ultimately the enterprise will thrive in the long run. Motivation also leads up to the achievement of organizational goals since when staff is motivated the resources can be fully utilized; there is cooperation among the employees as well as goal orientation. Motivation is also crucial in bringing about employee satisfaction since they feel their efforts are appreciated and when they work they know that their effort will be rewarded. An employer should keep this in mind as they design plans for rewarding and giving incentive to their staff, these incentives could be both monetary and non-monetary, the can also take the form of promotions and other perks for deserving employees. Furthermore, motivation in the workforce leads to stability; this is because when employees are satisfied, as a good motivation scheme is wont to make them, it promotes their good will and respect toward the employee. Workers will often feel like they are participating in management if well motivated and this makes them very loyal, this is an advantage to both staff and employer and it creates a good public image for a firm to potential employees and customers(Yurtseven and Halici, 2012). The more motivated employees are, the more empowered they feel and ultimately they will be more creative and desire to show their gratitude by being even more productive. When employees are motivated they will have a healthy relationship with their bosses and problems will often be discussed openly thus resolved amicably as opposed to Acton such as strike and go-slows which hurt everyone at the end of the day (Robbins et al, 2011). Abraham Maslow proposed the hierarchy of needs model in 1943 in a paper titled â€Å"A theory of motivation† by studying the exemplary people he could find in their respective fields, loosely described as the one â€Å"percenters†. Maslow's Hierarchy states that human must satisfy each of the seeds cont ained in the model beginning with the most basic need for survival and moving up to others up the hierarchy such as influence, power and personal improvement (Weinberg, 2005). However, in the event that one’s lower needs are withdrawn the higher needs lose precedence and they automatically focus on the lower needs.

Divorce Problem Question Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Divorce Problem Question - Essay Example 105). Also, individualism, increased work pressures, and career aspirations have been cited as contributing factors to increasing rates of divorce. Numerous studies have shown that divorce can be very stressful and difficult as it not only affects the status of marriage but also have far-reaching implications on children and finances. Constitutions and legislations have made provisions for dissolution of marriage if there are sufficient grounds for that. In the United Kingdom (UK), the law on family, marriage, and divorce is covered under the Family Law Act 1996 (The National Archives). Based on this legislation and cases relevant to divorce, this essay will address a divorce problem facing Alsa in a bid to advise her on whether she would be successful in obtaining a divorce. Facts Bob and Alsa have been married for 10 years but have both been unhappy for the past four years. Bob works full time as an engineer and Alsa is a full time housewife. Alsa is becoming tired with Bob’ s lack of assistance in the house; he constantly begins projects and does not finish them. His last project was to fit a new bathroom suite but after removing the old suite, he did not find time to fit the new one. Alsa feels that she cannot cope with his unfinished projects any longer and has moved into the spare room. Although Bob and Alsa continue to eat meals together, they rarely communicate but Alsa has continued to do all of Bob’s washing. More recently Alsa has started to engage in an extra-marital relationship with Ted. Issue Whether Alsa would be successful in obtaining a divorce? Rules Under Family Law Act 1996, divorce and separation is provided for. There is one ground to initiate divorce proceedings: irretrievable breakdown of marriage. The law has provided for five grounds for divorce which the court can rely upon as evidence that the marriage has irretrievably broken down and thus should grant divorce. The five grounds are: desertion; five years’ separa tion without consent; unreasonable behaviour; adultery; and two years’ separation with consent. In addition, the law has set threshold that has to be met before a husband or wife file for divorce: meet specific rules regarding how long one has lived in the country; prove that the marriage has irretrievably broken down; have a marriage that is recognised, legally, in the UK; and have been married for a minimum of one year. Analysis Considering the increasing rates of divorce and how they occur after a very short duration after marriage, Bob and Alsa can be considered to be have sustained their marriage for a relatively longer period (10years). However, both of them have been unhappy in the marriage for the past four years; an indication that the marriage has been experiencing some problems within that period. From the facts gathered, it seems Bob and Alsa marriage does not experience â€Å"serious† problems compared to other marriages whose partners are seeking divorce. Alsa’s main concern is that Bob does not provide assistance in the house as he constantly begins projects and does not finish them. Comparatively, this issue can be considered â€Å"lesser† in marriage and that which can be solved using other avenues rather than the legal avenue. Since this issue does not touch entirely on the fundamentals of marriage, services of a counsellor, church priest, or a family friend can be sought to resolve it (Probert, 2007, p. 65). Besides,

House On Mango Street Essay example -- essays research papers

Women’s Escape into Misery Women’s need for male support and their husband’s constant degradation of them was a recurring theme in the book House on Mango Street. Many of Esperanza’s stories were about women’s dreams of marrying, the perfect husband and having the perfect family and home. Sally, Rafaela, and Minerva are women who gave me the impression of [damsel’s in distress].CLICHÉ, it’s ok though. It’s relevant They wished for a man to sweep them of their feet and rescue them from their present misery. These characters are inspiring and strong but they are unable to escape the repression of the surrounding environment. *Cisneros presents a rigid world in which they lived in, and left them no other hope but to get married. Esperanza, however, is a very tough girl who knows what she wants. She will keep dreaming and striving until she gets it. She says, "I am too strong for her [Mango Street] to keep me here&qu ot; (110). Esperanza learned from all of these women that she was not going to be tied down. She said, "I have decided not to grow up tame like the others who lay their necks on the threshold waiting for the ball and chain" (88). **Especially after seeing that Sally was suffering so much. Sally’s father is making her want to leave home by beating her. Sally "said her mother rubs lard on the places were it hurts" (93). There is not enough lard in the world to be able to cure the pain within Sally’s heart. Sally, "met a marshmallow salesman at a school bazaar" (101). Pretty soon " sally got married, she has her house now, her pillowcases and her plates" (101). Her marriage seems to free her from her father, but in reality she has now stepped into a world of misery. This was supposed to help her heal; " she says she is in love, but I think she did it to escape." (101). Unlike the oth er women Sally has no escape, no poetry, not even papaya coconut juice, not to mention, " he does not let her look out the window" (102). That is why "she sits at home because she is afraid to go outside without his permission."(102). Rafaela’s situation also involves imprisonment in her own home. Cisneros introduced us to Rafaela, a young beautiful girl whose expectations from marriage were to obtain a sweet home to live in. Instead... ...p;quot;ferocious roots beneath the ground" (74). Like the trees [???] (I don’t get the reference to the trees) these are, "Four who reach and do not forget to reach. Four whose only reason is to be and be" (75). These characters are inspiring and strong but they are unable to escape the repression of the surrounding environment. The only tree that was able to escape Mango Street was Esperanza. Her last words demonstrated growth as an independent woman. She concludes "She does not hold me with both arms. She sets me free" (110). This was good! There were minor corrections that I corrected, but didn’t make a note of it(like commas). If u have any ?’s call me n let me know! Nataly Buenrostro Writing 1 October 9, 2000 House on Mango Street Critical Analysis Professor Peterson I made many changes to my draft. First of all I made Esperanza a stronger focal point of my paper. I made it clear that she was the strong one in the book. I made the transitions have more of a flow by mentioning more events that involved Esperanza. I tried to make my subjects better known and my thesis clearer by stating more facts. I showed a lot more and told less.

Mike Pevitt Bolton College mission statement Bolton College works with a wide range of public and private sector organisations, including the ‘Bolton Family’ of public sector organisations, to meet the education and training needs of Bolton, its geographical, cultural and business communities. The College seeks to contribute to the education and training needs of the region and sub-region and, in relation to some niche markets, it will play a national and international role. We will support social and economic regeneration and contribute to measurable business success and community cohesion through the provision of flexible, innovative and responsive high quality training opportunities, working in partnerships with employers, local communities, key agencies and training providers. We will create a high quality learning organisation which captures outstanding practice including a culture of continuous improvement, by providing inspirational, cutting edge teaching and learning which is responsive to the needs, interests and experience of all learners and leads to success. We will widen participation and increase access to lifelong learning opportunities in education and training at a variety of locations and assist all our learners to reach and maximise their full potential and progress in their learning and employment. Key performance indicators for the college and department are retention, achievement and success of the students, Functional skills feeds into all of these targets for the college as a whole and now also individual department who use the services of the  functional skills area. The current targets are set out below: – Ret Ach Success Under19 Long 1 89% 93% 83% Long 2 89% 93% 83% Long 3 87% 93% 81% The above targets are set for all teams within the college, this year the Functional Skills team have similar targets with the added support from other college departments to encourage qualifying students to attend, enrol and work towards passing their Functional Skills exam in Maths and English at the appropriate level for that student ranging from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. The aim of the Scheme of work is to enable the subject to be taught in a logical planned manner, to make the lessons interesting for both the student and the lecturer and to ensure that the correct resources in place to aid teaching and learning. The scheme of work will also assist in the retention of students on the programme by also allowing them access to their planned year of study and regular assessment to measure attainment and learning. So it is essential that as a team we can plan the scheme of work and lesson plans together and allocate various duties to members to gather resources or research new resour ces and report back to the rest of the team at regular monthly meetings. Planning At the start of the college year the Functional Skills team will met before the start of the first term to plan the forthcoming year’s scheme of work and effective lesson plans that all members can follow and be able to deliver the same programme to all learners whatever department they are in or their ability. The process involves the gathering of resources and planning a logical scheme of work which follows a dedicated learning process to enable the team and most importantly its students to achieve at their given ability level. This process can be perfectively demonstrated in the following Gantt chart. Development of Functional Skills maths staff scheme of work and lesson plans. The scheme of work is developed with regards the college targets and the Ofsted new inspection Framework standards so that we can deliver a well-balanced logical course to the college students to enable them to progress to their ability level and obtain the qualification. All targets set are SMART :- S – specific, significant, stretching M – measurable, meaningful, motivational A – agreed upon, attainable, achievable, acceptable, action-oriented R – realistic, relevant, reasonable, rewarding, results-oriented T – time-based, timely, tangible, track able A goal would be to hold a weekly project meeting with the key members of the functional skills team or to organise and run a continuous test programme throughout the completion of the general scheme of work. Weekly meetings are monitored and progress is measured against each member of the teams own target areas. The team leader will also monitor on a daily basis using email to ensure that the members are on track and are not falling behind on what they have to do, The scheme of work has to be completed to enable the college supply chain to be maintained for other departments who use the functional skills team to deliver at least two hours a week of functional skills maths to those departments’ learners at the appropriate level. The general scheme of work and lesson plans will enable the other staff members to step in if a colleague is off for any reason they will know exactly what lesson should be delivered that week because they will be delivering the  same one to their usual classes. This means that the learner does not miss out on their lessons and will also enable them to achieve, this will also impact on that department as functional skills now forms part of their own performance criteria so a seamless delivery can only assist in the attainment of the department success.

Helping The Nations Economy From Experiencing A Housing...

Keeping the nations economy from experiencing a housing market disaster is in applicable. Our nation has been through some ups and downs the past decade that make many people wonder whether we could experience that of the Great Depression yet again. Though I do not believe there is a way to completely stop any sort of crash whether it be with oil, housing, stocks, and automobiles. At times we will always experience an economic slowdown. Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. This quote is widely known and should be taken with more consideration by many. I believe this to be a strongly meaningful quote because the recent Great Recession we experienced and the long recovery we have been experiencing is a great example. Many people found themselves having to foreclose their homes, file bankrupt, without a job and many other devastating crisis. Not learning from something of this matter many will find themselves back repeating this time and time again. Many people think about money and become greedy in these situations not thinking about the outcomes and effects it could have. Not just in the area of the housing market, but with jobs, credit, and more. Learning from something this devastating the first time is crucial. The housing market high in the 2000s and then the quick decline is a great example why everyone needs to be smart with every decision they make. We may not be able to completely prevent a housing market crash like in 2007 or the 1980s, but weShow MoreRelatedA New Production Facility At Chine For Apple Essay2072 Words   |  9 Pagesdiscuss how the U.S. economy will impact the aggressive growth plan to move a production facility to China. Human Trafficking Is The World s Third Largest Illegal...

There has been a war on drugs for decades, and part of that battle is to stop drug trafficking, but what if I told you that there was a trafficking crime that was just as bad if not worse? This, however, doesn’t involve any illegal narcotics, but the transportation of actual human beings. Trafficking in persons refers to the illegal trade or sale of human beings for sexual exploitation or forced labor through abduction, the use or threat of force, deception and fraud. Human trafficking is one of today s most egregious human rights violations. The lives of the twenty-one million victims of human trafficking all around the world ca never improve if we as a society choose to become silent about the matter. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, human trafficking is the world’s fastest growing criminal enterprise and is already tied with arms dealing as the world’s second largest illegal industry. Human trafficking is one of the most pervasive crimes on earth, existing in every single country. As much as it is a problem internationally, human trafficking also accounts for seventy-nine percent of prostitution around the country with North Carolina ranking eighth in states in highest rates of sex trafficking. Abortion Should Be Legal Option - 930 Words

Abortion should be a legal option The subject of abortion has been a long debated issue, dating back to the 1800’s. (2) During this time abortion was made Illegal due to the lack of educated doctor, it was too dangerous. As time passed the issue got bigger and more dangerous because of the number of back ally clinics that started to pop up. As a result, the maternal death rate increased drastically. In the early 1900’s, an average of 9.1 maternal deaths per 100,000 births, increasing to 14 per 100,000 in 2000, by 2013 it doubled to an astonishing 18.5 deaths per 100,000 live births that is 800 deaths. (1) So yes, abortion should be a legal option to decide when to start a family. I believe all women should have access to abortion clinics, however, I also think that there has to be certain restrictions that help regulate and execute the procedure as safe as possible. My arguments for why abortion should be legal can be found in each of the following topics women rights, personhood, victim protection and birth control. The first reason, is the principal value of a free nation. Women have the right to decide whether or not they want to start a family. In the Griswold v Connecticut a right to privacy was established for the use of birth control and in turn set a precedent.
